A five-year-old pit bull named Mia is patiently waiting at St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services in Lacombe, Louisiana, for someone to choose her. But sadly, no one has called or stopped by to meet her.
The shelter recently dressed her up in bunny ears in hopes of attracting potential adopters, but Mia is starting to lose hope. Her bio states, “Is it because of how I look, or my age? Do they not like my Bunny ears? The staff told me posing for these pictures would help me get adopted, but I am starting to think no one will ever want me.”
The blue and white pit bull is calm, sweet, and loves to cuddle. “I love all the people here at the shelter and always show them the commands I know – my favorite one is shake. I am housetrained, I can walk on a leash, and know how to cuddle in front of the TV (I am very good at that!). I am not a barker and don’t destroy my belongings in my kennel.”
While she needs to be the only pet, she promises to love you unconditionally.

Staff even said she would make the perfect first dog because she is so easygoing and well-mannered. “I promise to be a good girl if you would just consider taking me home! Please please please come visit me.”
Her adoption fee is only $32 for the month of March as the shelter partners with Mardi Paws and Baldwin Subaru to raise awareness for harder to adopt shelter dogs.
“MIA is hoping she will have the luck of the Irish and find a new home this month,” wrote Mardi Paws.
Out-of-state adopters are welcome to apply. “YES you can adopt if you live out of state, we do require you make the trip to us in person so Mia and our staff can meet you.”
Call the shelter at (985) 809-0183 to set up a meet and greet! The shelter has discounted pet adoption fees for the month of March for “Find Your Lucky Charm”. Adopt don’t shop!
