I have to give you some background. We had two dogs, Honey and Taco. My husband was stern on the fact that “NO MORE PETS…period!”

One day as I was turning a corner and I almost ran over this little mass sitting in the middle of the street. I slammed on my brakes, got out of my car expecting her to run off, she just sat there like she had been waiting for me all day.

I pick her up and took her home with ALL the intentions of finding her a permanent home. The minute I walked in the door my husband threatened divorce.

I told him we could take her to the Broward shelter because the Miami shelter is a kill shelter and Broward wasn’t…or so I thought. When we got there, they informed us that they in fact were a kill shelter but she was so cute she would probably be adopted in quick but I wasn’t going to risk it.

I told my husband to take us home and file the papers if he wanted to be that stupid about it if I couldn’t find her a home before we fell in love with her.

Guess WHO fell in love with her first and WHO calls me to find out how she’s doing and WHO goes into baby talk mode the minute he sees her…THE HUSBAND! And the 4 pounds, come to find out she had worms and I thought she was only about 3 months old because she was so small but when I took her to the doctor he told me she was 9 months old and as soon as we got rid of the worms, she started expanding and she’s now a bouncing, happy, healthy 25 pounds.

I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason and she’s one of those reasons because after only having her for about a year, our 10 year old Taco died from heart failure and although she in no way replaced him, having Ginger around to comfort Honey and my kids, made all the difference in the world.
