We realize that the love/hate relationship between dogs and cats has been going on for as long as they both have been around. It sometimes makes for a lively debate, but unfortunately, there may also be times when an animal crosses the line and attacks another animal.
This is what happened in Massachusetts when a seven-month-old cat was taken to the Angell Animal Medical Center, which is operated by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA).
On January 20, Juicebox the cat was attacked by a dog that shared his home.
When the cat came to the Medical Center, he had severe injuries that included lacerations, head trauma, jaw fractures, and damage to the palet in the roof of his mouth.
The surgeons worked tirelessly to treat Juicebox’s injuries, including using some unusual items. Four buttons were used by the surgeons, two under the chin and two on the face to help stabilize the jaw that had been fractured.

With the buttons in place, Juicebox is less likely to damage the sutures, so he can heal faster.
According to PEOPLE, a manager at the adoption center for MSPCA, Victoria Odynsky, said that the cat suffered from trauma but he has adapted to the buttons used for his jaw. You will also like knowing that the buttons will only stay in place for about six weeks, after which they will be removed.
Juicebox’s owners decided that it would be best to surrender him so he could live his life in a forever home without dogs. At this time, a foster family search is underway, as there will be medical issues involved and the family needs to care for them.
The date for adoption has not yet been set, but you can fill out an application at this time or donate for his medical care.
