APA! Supporters, 

I’m ending this year thinking about miracle workers like you — and the difference you make for pets like Furby, a 6-pound puppy who recently came through our doors at Austin Pets Alive!.

We took this golden doodle puppy in from Austin Animal Center, because of his urgent medical state. He arrived with bruising on his abdomen and serious neurological issues, possibly caused by blunt force trauma.

The tiny dog couldn’t even sit up on his own, though he kept trying — Furby’s spirit stayed strong, with his little body needing so much help to get well.

Without you supporting our work, we would not be able to save Furby or the thousands of other cats and dogs counting on APA! every year. You make it possible for us to take in and treat the pets who are bruised and battered, sick and scared, and those who won’t get their second chance anywhere else. The ones who won’t make it out of another shelter alive.

You make it possible for us to be their lifeline. You give them their miracle.

We are so grateful for the miracles you make. And I’m asking you now, if you can make one more, before the year is over.

Today is a day of preparation for many. Preparation for celebration and reunion tomorrow. As I’m preparing mashed potatoes and desserts to bring to our staff and volunteers who will be treating medical emergencies, walking dogs, and caring for our cats tomorrow, I’m thinking of how much YOU mean to Austin Pets Alive!.

Did you know that YOU are the ONLY reason there are dogs to walk and cats to care for tomorrow at APA!? Because without you supporting our work, we would not be able to do any of it.

We are eternally grateful. But more importantly, the thousands of pets who have been able to go and live their natural lives in families who are gathering for the holidays right now, thank you — that includes Furby, who is now in a home, healing with an experienced medical foster. He is grateful, too.
