In the north of England, there is a park where a drama unfolded recently. It happened when a dog fell into an icy lake and was drowning.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Darcy Pell, a 31-year-old from the area, saw a “dog in need.”
Although he doesn’t consider himself to be a hero, anybody who has seen what he did at Pontefract Park would beg to differ.
The article talks about how he smashed onto the ice, grabbed the dog, and swam back to the edge of the lake.

The dog seems as if it had fallen through the ice and was stuck, not being able to get back up on top again. He was then able to give the dog back to its owners.
The rescue footage was filmed by Paula Town, and she considered him to be a hero. After all, you don’t see a complete stranger saving somebody’s dog every day.
The dog was already in the water when they arrived at the lake. She said she felt a sense of panic as she looked for a lifebuoy but there wasn’t one available.
That is when she said: “Luckily that guy came along, he lowered himself into the water and the rest is on the video.”
According to the article, Pell just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
He is experienced as a cold water swimmer and trains regularly as a triathlete, so he knew what to do and he did it.
Way to go, Pell!
