Kendra Armstrong thought she would never see her beloved cat Moose, who went missing in 2015, again. But five years later she spotted his photo on a shelter’s adoption page.

Armstrong searched high and low for Moose after he went missing, but to no avail. She hoped he was somewhere safe and well-cared-for.

It turns out that Moose was in and out of Midcoast Humane, an animal shelter in Brunswick, Maine, for the past five years and was known as “Oldest”.

The senior cat was returned to the shelter once again and that is when fate led Armstrong to look at the adoption page and spot her long-lost cat.

After seeing his photo, she immediately called the shelter and set up a time to reunite with Moose.

“It felt like a dream at first, I was so happy,” Armstrong told WGME. “I was so excited, not only to know that he was alive, but to get him back, it’s like the craziest thing ever and I never would have expected it.”

The shelter was so touched by the story that they had to share it with their followers. The Instagram post said, “We are only a few days into 2021, and we already have an AMAZING story to share with you! Oldest, a sweet senior kitty and staff favorite who has been in and out of the shelter multiple times in the last five years, has finally found the home that he was always meant to be in – his original home!”

The shelter’s followers loved the heartwarming story and one person commented, “Siamese cats typically bond with just one person. Moose has been waiting a long time for this day.” Others said that none of the other homes worked out because he was waiting for his “real” mom to find him.

Armstrong was beyond happy to finally have her sweet boy back. She even reached out to the shelter after Moose settled back in to say, “I just wanted to thank you all for everything you did in all the years my kitty was in and out. Moose (oldest) knows he’s finally home and he does NOT want me to leave his sight (I don’t blame him at all because I feel the same way) I am so grateful to have him home with me.”
