The Park Fire in California has already burned 391,200 acres and continues to spread. It is the fifth-largest wildfire in the state’s history. Officials continue to post evacuation warnings as the fire as of August 1st is just 18% contained.

Firefighters and volunteers are working day and night to fight the flames and save those in danger.

A recent video posted by Butte County Sheriff shows the Butte County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue (BCSAR) team saving a Rottweiler dog and her four puppies from the flames.

On Wednesday evening residents near Campbellville were heeding the warning and evacuating when their vehicle broke down. They contacted officials for help and gave the location of where to find their dogs they left behind.

Once the flames calmed down enough for rescuers to enter the area, BCSAR member, Trevor Skaggs, flew in on a helicopter alongside pilot Conner Smith to rescue the dogs.

The department posted the rescue story on Facebook and wrote, “After arriving, Trevor ran 1.5 miles to the location and found the puppies and mother alive, but tired and very thirsty. Unfortunately, the puppies’ father was found to have not survived. After giving the mother and her puppies water and bites from his protein bar, Trevor was able to get the five of them to follow him 1.5 miles back to the helicopter.”
