Meet Hailey.

The one-year-old Chihuahua mix was found barely moving on the streets of Dallas, Texas, with a badly broken leg. She was in excruciating pain and rushed to Humane Animal Hospital by Friend United in Rescue.

When no one came to claim her during her stray hold, the rescue stepped up to take her and will ensure she gets the care she needs to heal.

Hailey is just a puppy who should be running and playing, but she is unable to move without pain due to her broken leg. The medical team at the animal hospital is confident that she can make a full recovery with surgery. The rescue shared with us, “Her surgeon expects her surgery and recovery to go very well. They’ve determined she needs pins and a plate to stabilize her leg as well as a splint.”

Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund received a request for help from the rescue to cover Hailey’s surgery and ongoing care. The fund was started to give shelter pets the medical care they need and a chance for a better life.

The sweet pup is waiting to have surgery and then will spend the following two months recovering. Her leg will be x-rayed again at that point to make sure that it has fully healed.

Hailey has her whole life ahead of her and deserves to walk, run, and play without pain. Will you help her get the care she needs?

Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. If you would like to inquire about adoption of a specific animal, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter’s specific website first as that is often the most up to date place to learn about available pets and review the adoption policies and process. Check out the shelter’s website to see all adoptable pets.
