Six-year-old hounds named Romeo and Juliet are madly in love and refuse to be separated. They arrived as strays at Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society in December of 2020 and have been waiting for a home ever since.
While their love for each other is undeniable, they still have room in their hearts to love a family. The friendly hounds have won the hearts of staff and volunteers who call them “canine lovebirds”.
The no-kill shelter wrote, “These two kids aren’t hound dogs. They are lovebirds trapped inside canine bodies. They adore each other and they will love you, too.”
Staff knew that their family was out there somewhere and continued to spoil them with love and attention until they arrived. After waiting over three years, Romeo and Juliet have found the perfect forever home.
“The greatest Valentine’s Week in our 37-year history has concluded in the most perfect way possible. Our two longest-resident dogs and bonded pair canine lovebirds have found their forever home,” shared the shelter on Facebook.
Their story has the best ending as they found a home with someone who they already know and adore.
Staff posted, “After 1,154 (!!!) days of compassionate care at our no-kill shelter, Romeo & Juliet went home with someone they knew very well – one of our beloved volunteer dog walkers Denise! Denise and her husband Jim are the new pet parents for one of the strongest-bonded pairs of dogs we have ever had the honor of caring for. Romeo & Juliet now have an awesome mom and dad and a loving forever home in Sapphire. Happy Tails to our Canine Valentines Romeo & Juliet!”
There are so many dogs, including bonded pairs, that are waiting for a loving home. Open your heart and home to a shelter dog or dogs and experience true love.
