Christmas is just around the corner, and overlooked New York City shelter dogs are sending letters to Santa Paws asking for the one thing they all want more than anything else in the world – a forever home.

Animal Care Centers of NYC, an open-admissions animal shelter, takes in an average of 30,000 animals a year and works hard to find loving homes for them all. This year they asked their longest stay dogs to write a letter to Santa with their holiday wishes.

All have been on their best behavior all year and are not asking for toys or treats, but a loving family of their own. Many of the dogs have spent months at the shelter patiently waiting for someone to pick them.

Eight dogs, so far, have written a letter, with the help of volunteers and staff, describing their perfect home and highlighting their amazing qualities.

The shelter decided to post the letters on their Facebook page with a video of each dog and a voiceover by EB and the pets, a child volunteer at the shelter.

Letters To Santa

Bella Rose

The first letter was from a dog named Bella Rose who has been at the shelter for over 115 days. The 6-year-old female is an expert fetcher and loves tennis balls. She is looking for an active home with no children. Check out her video below.

Jodie

Another dog that made the nice list was Jodie. She has spent over 126 days waiting for her perfect match and just wants a quiet home without children. Learn more about her below.

Skye

This adorable pup is describe by volunteers as a “classy lady”. She likes to offer her paw, for treats of course, and enjoys leisurely walks set to her pace. Just like a true sophisticated lady, she has great manners and knows “sit” and “wait”. See if she is the dog for you by watching her video below.

Patrick

This handsome fella loves treats but would trade all the treats in the world for a family of his own. He needs to be an only dog but has lived in a home with children. An active home is a must and he will need some training on walking on a leash. “Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash!” Check him out.
