On a hot, sunny day in Round Rock, Texas, two crates full of sick kittens were discovered in Memorial Park. The crates were locked, and the eleven kittens didn’t have access to food or water. They were left there to die in the extreme heat.
The kittens were rushed to Texas Humane Heroes by a good Samaritan.
The estimated 6-week-old kittens arrived lethargic, emaciated, and unable to open their eyes because of discharge. The medical team provided emergency care to all of the kittens, but two did not survive.
The rescue told us, “Our Director of Medical Services and our certified veterinary team are doing everything we can to save the remaining 9. The kittens have multiple ailments to overcome from the abuse they endured including malnourishment, dehydration, flea infestation and internal parasites. They have also tested positive for Feline Panleukopenia Virus, which can have a 90% fatality rate without supportive care.”
The kittens, named Tres, Cuatro, Cinco, Seis, Seite, Ocho, Nueve, Once, Doce, are quarantined and getting the care they need, but their road to recovery will be long and expensive. The shelter reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund for help with the accumulating medical bills.
The fund was started to provide grants to animal shelters and rescues to cover the costs of emergency surgery and medical care to save lives. But we can’t do it without your support.
This sweet litter of kittens needs your help. They will be spayed and neutered once healthy enough and deserve a second chance to find loving homes.
The rescue said, “We’ve filed a report with the Round Rock Police Department to find the people responsible. Right now, we need your donations to help get these kittens to a healthy state and have a chance at a happy life.”
Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. If you would like to inquire about adoption of a specific animal, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter specific website first as that is often the most up to date place to learn about available pets and review the adoption policies and process. Follow Texas Humane Heroes on Facebook or visit their website for more updates and to see when the felines will be available for adoption.
Help us meet our goal of $2,500 to feed and care for the little felines. Your support will not only give the kittens hope to keep fighting, but your donations will help cover their costly medication and the ongoing care they will need.
