These courses require completion of: self-paced online materials, four to six Zoom classes that range in length from 60-90 minutes with your instructor and classmates, and a final project. Class size is limited.
Humane education programs are an invaluable resource to any shelter, as they directly help them meet their organizational goals and benefit the entire community. In Humane Education: Tools & Techniques to Expand Your Reach, students will learn about the tools and techniques needed to garner organizational buy-in, create programs to fit needs, and get tips and tricks to get started right away. “Youth education is an important program for the sheltering community. Continuing to offer programs and discussion topics is necessary to help shift the sheltering paradigm,” said one former student.
In the brand-new course, Transforming the Rescue Approach for “Hard to Place” Cats, you’ll learn how Cat Town is helping cats who are least likely to find positive outcomes in a traditional shelter. Unsocialized kittens (the “Forgotten Kittens”), senior cats, and those with medical issues or in hospice are no match for Cat Town’s strategies. You can read several success stories on Cat Town’s blog.
