A little compassion can go a long way during the holiday season, no matter what species you are. A gorilla at a zoo in New South Wales, Australia, recently showed the world just what that word means means when it stopped to care for an injured bird.
Murmurs from zoo visitors grew more concerned as the gorilla made its way over to the tiny creature. A woman’s can be heard saying it may not “end pretty” in a video of the incident.
Others may also have thought the hulking primate was going to hurt the bird. Far from it; the gorilla gently bent down to examine the bird before touching its wings with even greater care.
The bird fluttered ever so slightly as the gorilla nudged it on, possibly trying to help it fly again. The atmosphere was tense with anticipation, but the bird just wouldn’t, or couldn’t, fly away. After a few minutes of trying to help his ailing feathered friend, the gorilla gave up and ambled away. He’s not a doctor, after all.
According to Ladbible, the zoo visitors who witnessed this event will not forget it for a long time.
”It was amazing such a big animal could be so gentle,” one said. “It walked over to the bird and tried very gently to get the bird to fly away. When the bird didn’t fly away, the gorilla walked away without ever harming it.”
This would have been an incredible sight to see. But don’t feel left out. See how this all went down in the video below.
