Get ready to meet Tuckson or, as his friends call him, Tucker. Tucker is a wonderfully sweet smaller Lab mix with a real zest for life. He is a gentle boy and shows affection to everyone he meets. Because he’s only eleven months old, Tucker is still very much a Labrador puppy. He is a rambunctious chewer and can be a little mouthy, especially when he’s hungry. Like any puppy, Tucker will chew on anything and everyone until he learns to channel his energy as he gets older.
Despite his puppy-driven penchant for chewing, Tucker is an incredibly intelligent dog. He’s quick to learn new behaviors, such as sitting and waiting for his breakfast before eating, and he does well adjusting to new things like learning to wear a harness for walking and car rides. Unlike some dogs his age, Tucker does an excellent job of making eye contact during training. He takes treats gently and loves being praised for good behavior, both with treats and/or affection.
Young Tuck has been through a lot in his short life, so he’s a bit nervous in new situations and is learning to get comfortable with things he’s afraid of, like the broom, vacuum, and hose.
While he’s still growing into things, Tucker is a quick learner and is already leash, potty, and crate trained! When he’s not chewing on a bone, Tucker absolutely adores going on walks and playing with his foster caregiver’s 2-year-old Lab. Because of this, it’s believed he would do really well with a mature dog who can tolerate his youthful exuberance and show him the ropes.
Tucker has a lot of energy around dogs he does not know, so he needs a family that will continue to work with him to feel safe and help with proper socialization/integration with other canines. Resilient, loving, and irresistibly adorable, Tucker is a dog so full of life, he’s sure to put a smile on your face the minute you meet him!
