Friendships can form at the most unexpected of moments, which is exactly what happened for a golden retriever in Orange County, California.

The dog, Aubrey, was outside her apartment with her owner when something caught her eye: Another dog was staring at her from an apartment above them!

The two dogs locked eyes and seemed to instantly hit it off, despite the distance.

Aubrey and her owner didn’t know it at the time, but it was a moment that would be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Aubrey’s owner shared a video of the encounter on Instagram with the caption: “I think I found the Goodest boy! Should they meet?”

Of course, Aubrey’s owner was more than happy to share a follow-up video of the much-anticipated meeting between the dogs.

They discovered the golden retriever from the window is named Meimei and she belongs to Instagram user @clotyoung.

Thankfully, the two dogs ended up hitting things off in person as much as they did from afar. In fact, they were so excited that they were jumping for joy!

Their owners took them to a free run area so they could enjoy a game of ball together. Needless to say, Aubrey and Meimei are now BFFs. Watch the adorable video below:
