The Irish Open of golf was being held in a field in Antrim, Ireland when a local farmer decided that he was going to enjoy his VIP viewing experience. Only this farmer wasn’t alone. He was joined by his cows who also seemed to be getting into the action.

Billy O’Kane became a social media sensation when the TV cameras covering the Irish Open ended up catching sight of the farmer and his cows in the adjoining field watching the tournament. Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic and Ireland being on a nationwide Level 5 lockdown, the Irish Open was played entirely without spectators.

Not only did this afford O’Kane and his cows the perfect view, but it also gave the media the perfect view of O’Kane in his lawn chair, surrounded by his cows. It’s no wonder that they zeroed in on him as he sipped his tea and watched the golf game – and it’s definitely no shocker that social media had a field day with his viral video.

According to the Irish Post, O’Kane explained to the BBC that he had gone out to check his cows when he saw that there were people across the way. Knowing that no one else would’ve been able to enjoy the game, O’Kane decided to brew himself a cup of tea and watch a few rounds. That is when his cows joined him, and they ended up attracting the attention of the media.

O’Kane shared that he really enjoyed his golf break with his cows, adding that he had no idea that he’d made it to viral status on social media.

According to the outlet, O’Kane stated that it was actually his kids who pointed out to him that he was trending online. Despite his viral video, O’Kane said that he enjoyed the view and he went on to watch the final day in the same spot with his cows right beside him.
