Mitzy-Maria came to the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in the UK when her owner’s dementia worsened. As a 10-year-old cat, she may not have been expecting to leave her home behind, but now she once more has a chance to find a new forever home with a loving family.

Mitzy-Maria came to the sanctuary after living with her owner for 10 years.
Mitzy-Maria is still, as the Bolton News reports, full of personality. She spent her life being treated like a princess and is used to having a home all to herself, without other pets around vying for her humans’ attention.
“Older children would be best due to her sassy nature,” the Bolton News reports. “She may swipe at you and has a lot to say for herself but she is a loving lady when she wants to be.”
Elsewhere at the shelter, a larger cat named Charlie is also looking for a new forever home.
Charlie has a little more to love, but it fits his personality.
Charlie isn’t the fittest cat around, she’s just got more to love. And she hopes someone who loves her will sign adoption papers, soon.
Charlie actually lives with a hyperthyroid condition, which has caused her to put on a few pounds in recent years. She requires medication for her condition every day, followed up by blood tests every three months to make sure the medicine is working.
This cat is happy to take her medication, so long as its hidden in some food, the quickest way to any cat’s heart.
“We think Charlie would be best suited to a quiet home where she is the only pet because of her timid nature,” the Bolton News reports.
Anyone looking to adopt Mitzy-Marie or Charlie should fill out an application at the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary’s website and email it to info@bleakholt.org. The sanctuary is closed to the public out of pandemic safety concerns, but applications are still being accepted.
“Once we are able to start booking visitors in, we will contact you to arrange an appointment,” Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary manager Karen Weed told the Bolton News. “We believe that every animal deserves a second chance and this means we often take in animals that have health conditions or are elderly.
“We continue to support these animals in homes so they have a better chance at finding that special forever home.”
