Looking for a shelter pet that brings a bit of spice to your life? We have just the seasoning for whatever you’re cooking up in your home, and it’s a sweet dog named Thyme. Currently a resident of the Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson, Arizona, this is what shelter staff there had to say about this fella:
“Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme… actually, forget the first three. Thyme is the most important ingredient and the only one that really matters! Ingredient for what, you ask? A happy life! He’s the main component! Thyme is a super friendly, energetic, and playful guy with long limbs. He’s basically the best when it comes to playing fetch and will do it all day long!”
A neutered brown brindle Pit Bull Terrier mix, he weighs approximately 58 pounds and is believed to be about 3 years old. He’s been at the shelter since April 18, 2022, and is ready to go home today. Now, here’s what a couple of Thyme’s volunteer friends had to say about him:
Animal Shelter Volunteers
“Thyme is a goofball! He seems to prefer playing fetch over going for a walk. He’s a great fetch partner, always brings the ball back and drops it at your feet. He’s a big, high-energy guy and a fun and smart pup!”
“Thyme had a great time on our morning walk last Saturday. He carried a toy on the entire walk, squeaking it along the way. He was relaxed the whole time and held on to his toy even when I offered him treats.”
“A note on Thyme. I have taken him out often. He loves to play fetch, likes his treats, and enjoys some physical attention. He’s a tad excitable but a very enjoyable and joyful pup. This afternoon, there was a big blue ball in the yard — Thyme was in heaven! I have never seen him so engrossed with anything as much as he was with that ball. Sweet and energetic dog, to be sure.”

As you can see, Thyme LOVES his toys, so plenty of balls, bones and other fun things are a must in his future home, along with someone to play with him! Thyme is definitely high energy, so if you’re seeking a couch potato, Thyme may not be the one for you. But if you live an active lifestyle and would love to have a friend to enjoy your adventures with, Thyme may be the perfect fit! With a bit of training, this smart boy has the potential to be a great jogging or hiking buddy.
When meeting other dogs in playgroup, Thyme was appropriate and tolerant, but a bit assertive and can be choosy about his furry friends. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Stock up on tennis balls and ask to meet him today!
