The empty stands at Nissan Stadium were put to good use during the recent Tennessee Titan vs Houston Texans NFL game. Due to the global pandemic, fans aren’t able to attend the games and the stands are empty, so Mars Petcare teamed up with the Tennessee Titans to use the empty seats to help shelter pets find forever homes.

Cutouts of 200 adoptable dogs and cats filled the stands to cheer on the teams and hopefully catch the eye of a loving family. Mars Petcare holds an annual adoption event called BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ Adoption Weekend and instead of cancelling it due to the unprecedented year, they made it virtual.

“We’re proud to work with Mars Petcare to promote this year’s adoption weekend,” said Gil Beverly, Titans Sr. Vice President, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer. “We’re excited to lend our seats to these pets in need of a loving home and promote this important cause in a safe and healthy manner.”

Mars Petcare announced that they would be working with five shelters in Tennessee and Houston to help hundreds of shelter pets find forever homes. They generously covered the cost of adoption fees and even included a goodie bag with each adopted pet filled with food and other supplies.

The event took place on October 17-18 with the shelters scheduling Zoom and in-person meetings with potential adopters.

The Titans ended up winning the game, but more importantly countless shelter pets found forever homes.

It was a huge success and extended into the following week to help even more dogs and cats find loving homes.

“Now more than ever people are looking to pets for comfort and companionship, and we want to ensure as many people as possible can experience the love and support that pets can offer,” said Jam Stewart, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Mars Petcare in a statement. “By expanding this year’s BETTER CITIES FOR PETS Adoption Weekend, we hope to help more people find their forever friend and further support our mission of ending pet homelessness.”

Nashville Humane Association, just one of the Tennessee shelters taking part in the event, posted over 40 pets found homes at their shelter alone. “THANK YOU Mars Petcare US – The Virtual #BetterCitiesForPets Annual Adoption Event was a HUGE success‼️ Last weekend, and continued throughout this past week, Mars Petcare US covered adoption fees plus provide food, coupons and more for everyone you see pictured to have a great start with their new pet! Houston Humane Society also posted photos of the happy dogs and cats with their new families, all thanks to the adoption event. “So many families united with their furry new family members!”
