Some shelter pets just can’t seem to catch a break. That’s the story of Kylo, a neutered brown boxer mix that’s been waiting for a forever home since December 17, 2021. Weighing approximately 48 pounds, shelter staff at Pima Animal Care Center in Tucson think he’s about 3 years old.

Animal Rescue

Described as a dark warrior with a strong force, Kylo Ren seeks to destroy the New Republic, the Resistance, and the legacy of the Jedi. Just kidding, Kylo is a dog — and a pretty sweet one at that. When Kylo first arrived at the shelter, he was fairly overwhelmed, so he spent a bit of time getting extra TLC in PACC’s decompression program for shy and fearful dogs. He graduated with a master’s degree in being a VGB (very good boy) and is ready to find his forever home now!

Boxer Breed

Kylo loves to play ball, sits and shakes for treats, and has learned that affection from his people friends is pretty great. He has shared his kennel with a pal for quite some time now, and they’re absolutely hilarious together. They play hard, chasing each other around the yard, wrestling, and generally having a blast. Kylo is young, energetic, and athletic, so an active home or one with a furry pal to rough house with would be ideal!

Shelter Animals

Kylo is a popular boy and has a volunteer fan club determined to find him the right forever home. Here’s what one of his fans had to say about him:

“Hidden Gem Alert!!! Kylo may take a hot second to warm up to new people, but once he decides to trust you, he’s a total lovebug! He’s calm and patient within his kennel while leashing and is a dream on a leash — no pulling. He walks just ahead of or beside you, turning back often to show his focus and attention. He sits patiently for treats and pretty much licks them from your hand, he’s so gentle.

“As mentioned, once he trusts you, he will lean against you for pets and seek affection. He has a sweet, calm demeanor and is a real joy to engage with. It’s all about going slow and building trust with this guy, but he sure makes the extra effort worthwhile!”
