When you’re picking up holiday gifts for all your favorite loved ones, you may decide to get one for your furry friends, too. In fact, you may be tempted to fill an entire stocking for them. Don’t worry. It’s not that out of the ordinary, especially if you own certain breeds.

Online pet gift shop Yappy.com recently conducted a survey on dog gifting trends this holiday season, finding that 85.5% of dog owners plan to get their pooch a present. It may not be just the one gift, either, with more than 47% saying they were going to hang a stocking for their furry friend.

The survey also discovered which breeds are getting the most attention this time of year. Topping the list were Rottweilers, with the average owner spending just north of $60 on presents for them. They were followed closely by poodles, at just shy of $55. French Bulldog, Miniature Schnauzer, Bernese Mountain Dog, Husky, and Corgi owners all also reported spending more than $40 on on gifts. This even applied to dogs to whom Santa would normally gift coal, with canine owners who reported having dogs on the naughty list spending more on average than those who said their pet was on the nice list.

Millennials may be particularly fond of including their dogs in the holiday festivities, with the survey finding that they spent 23% more than baby boomers. Their presents for their dogs also made up 51% of their total gifts this holiday season.

So which gifts were most popular? They included toys, treats, and treat puzzles.

The survey involved just over 1,000 Americans, with 50% women, 48% men, and 2% non-binary. A little over half were either married or living with a significant other, with the rest single, divorced, separated, or widowed. To read more of the findings, click here.
