Police officers were left flabbergasted after a cat broke into a home and trashed the place.
According to the LeicestershireLive, 24-year-old Noemi Zonta was shocked to open her apartment in Koper, Slovenia and discover it had been wrecked.
She immediately suspected a burglary, as drawers and cupboards were flung open, household objects were strewn around, and there was even urine all over her bed.
According to the LeicestershireLive, Noemi explained, “…we were 100% sure that someone broke in. The kitchen was a mess, all bottles and glasses were flipped over, there was urine on the bed sheets and all drawers were open. We didn’t want to touch anything because we wanted to leave the crime scene untouched.”
She went on to say that they immediately called the police and two investigators arrived to scope the place for evidence. As the investigation went on, the police became more and more confused. There were no broken windows and nothing was stolen.
However, after testing the urine that was left in the home, things began to make more sense. The pee didn’t test positive as human urine, but as cat urine!
Noemi said, according to the outlet: “[Eventually] one of the investigators opened a closet in the bedroom and there was a cute, scared cat lying inside on a pile of bed covers. So the burglar was actually a cat who went inside and couldn’t get out.”
Apparently, the poor cat had snuck in some 4 days prior and was trapped alone until Noemi showed up. It’s no wonder he made such a mess!
The cat’s owner was identified as a neighbor and the two were reunited in a happy ending to a bizarre situation.
