A lot of people bring puppies or young dogs into their homes with enthusiasm and joy. Puppies are so adorable and easy-going most of the time, even though they require a ton of work.

All puppies grow into dogs eventually though, and that’s not something everyone accounts for. As a result, a lot of pet owners end up abandoning their dogs when the going gets tough. They may not realize how much work a dog requires, or they simply no longer want the responsibility of a dog when they’re no longer an adorable puppy.

While adult dogs in shelters struggle to find forever homes, it’s even harder for senior citizen dogs. Shelter dogs who are considered “old” often spend their last days, weeks, or years in cement cubes at a shelter or rescue hoping for someone to take them home.

Older dogs may struggle with abandonment and behavioral issues, as the family they knew and loved their whole lives is no longer there. But some older dogs just need someone to give them a chance, including 10-year-old Victor.

Victor’s owner surrendered him to the South African animal rescue Sidewalk Specials because he was “too old.”

Rescuers with Sidewalk Specials were more than happy to take Victor into their care and find him a loving retirement home to live out his golden years.

It might not be easy, but they were determined to help Victor find the perfect family – and boy, did they!

Victor ended up being adopted by a loving mama. Not only does he have a mama who loves him, but he also has two furry siblings now: a doggy and a friendly bunny!

It’s safe to say that Victor is truly living his best life with his new family. Check out the video below:
