Age is just a number – or at least that is how a senior shelter dog named Lion sees it. He is 15-years-young and looking for a forever home.

Shelter life can be tough on any dog but is especially hard on seniors. They have spent their entire lives in a home with their family and then suddenly everything changes.

Everything and everyone they have ever known is gone and they are confused, stressed, and afraid.

Thankfully, there are rescues like True & Faithful Pet Rescue Mission who take in senior and unwanted pets and find them loving homes. The all-volunteer rescue welcomed the senior Pomeranian with open arms after his owner surrendered him.

They named him Lion since he resembles one with his orange fur. He was neutered, received dental care, and treated for an ulcer on his eye.

According to the rescue, “He is a delicious old man and would make anyone a fantastic companion! He is on a Anti-inflammatory supplement and eats like a horse!”

As you can imagine, people quickly fell in love with the adorable and sweet dog. The rescue thought they had found his forever family and Lion was excited to meet them – but then they cancelled.

Lion hopes another family will come along soon and give him the second chance he deserves. In the meantime, he will continue to win the heart of everyone he meets. Anyone interested in adopting Lion is asked to message the rescue on Instagram.

The rescue reassured people that Lion will be loved and cared for until the right person comes along. “He comes with a large bag of supplies and a new harness! Lion will remain at the ranch until a incredible family steps forward!”

Senior dogs are often overlooked at shelters, but people are passing by amazing companions that still have so much love to give. The gray-muzzled dogs teach us to slow down and enjoy the little things in life and are always up for cuddling. Please consider adding an older pet to your family.
