Pebbles, a toy fox terrier, who held the Guinness World Record as the oldest living dog has passed away. She was born on March 28, 2000, in Long Island, New York, and earned her world record earlier this year.
A 21-year-old rescued Chihuahua named TobyKeith was named the oldest living dog in April and then a month later the title was passed on to Pebbles who was 22 years and 50 days old.
The senior dog who ate a diet of cat food, prescribed by her vet, was the “queen of the household”. She enjoyed country music and spent her golden years soaking up the sun in South Carolina.
“She enjoyed trying new foods, she was pampered, and most of all she was loved,” stated her mom, Julie Gregory.
Even though she only weighed four pounds, she was a force to be reckoned with.
Early Monday morning Pebbles crossed the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by those she loved most.
The sad news was shared on Pebbles Instagram in a press release stating she, “passed away of natural causes peacefully at her home surrounded by family.”
She was five months away from her 23rd birthday.
Pebbles was a beloved family member and will be greatly missed. “It has been said, she has given us more than we have ever given her, and no statement could be truer,” her mom said. “She was a once in a lifetime companion, and it was our honor to have had the blessing to have had her as a pet, and family member.”
RIP, Pebbles.
