Life as a stray dog on the streets is tough enough as is, but things are even harder when the weather turns for the worst.
Thailand is home to thousands of stray dogs that must face the elements on their own, but sometimes, a kind stranger is there to lend a helping hand.
When a monsoon rainfall caused floodwaters in Thailand, one unlucky puppy was swept up in the water and found himself in a life-or-death situation.
Things could’ve been grim for the pup, but a man passing by noticed the dog and stepped in to help!
Despite the heavy floodwater, the man risked his own safety and crossed the water to get to the dog. It took a lot of effort but the man was eventually able to grab the dog and get him to safety on the shore across the road.
The NOAA describes monsoons as “a shift in winds that often causes a very rainy season or a very dry season.” Monsoons can cause droughts, but they’re infamously known for heavy rains and flooding.
According to the UK’s Met Office, rainy monsoons are not uncommon in Thailand. In fact, the country is dominated by the southwest monsoon each year, with the heaviest rainfall happening in September and October.
It would’ve been easy for the man to see the dog and keep walking, but instead, he went out of his way to help the struggling dog and likely save his life in the process.
