There are many stereotypes about cats. They hate water. They’re aloof. They can’t be trained. The list could go on.

But as many cat owners can tell you, sometimes the stereotypes are just not true and cats will surprise you.

Take the myth about cats hating water.

While for the most part, it’s true, most cats do detest water, sometimes you’ll get an exception to the rule. There are actually cats out there who enjoy playing with water.

One of my own cats back home loved going to the groomers because he loved getting a nice warm bath. It definitely broke with tradition, but he’s not the first cat to do it. In fact, some rather adorable footage has surfaced of a little feline that appears to enjoy playing with the sprinkler outside in his yard.

As the cat’s owner has explained to ViralHog:

“When we first used a sprinkler in our backyard when our cat was a kitten, we quickly found out that he was obsessed with chasing the droplets. Now every time we put on the sprinkler, he goes nuts. Our dog hates water.”

In the hilarious video, the cat is seen outside on the lawn waiting for the rotating sprinkler to head in its direction.

As the water passes overhead, the fluffy white cat happily chases the water droplets, completely unfazed by the wetness. And in true irony, the family’s fluffy black dog is hiding out on the porch, afraid to get wet. What a role reversal!
