A tiny rescue found a loving forever home thanks to a viral Facebook post that featured her in it.
Shelters are often overrun with stray kittens each year and it can be hard for all of them to find permanent homes. In fact, the National Kitten Coalition estimates that 1.4 million shelter cats are euthanized each year.
Not finding a home can be a life-or-death situation for animals in need, but for a little kitten named Spicy Chicken Nugget, her happily ever after came sooner than expected.
The kitten was taken in by the Humane Society of Harlingen, which shared about her in a brutally honest and humorous Facebook post.
In the post, they wrote:
“My name is Spicy Chicken Nugget. I’ve been seeing my photo going around. Here’s the deal – Everybody knows I’m the boss around here.
I should probably let you know right away that I hate everything. That’s right, hoomans, hate ‘em; toys, ain’t got time; snuggles? barf; head scritches? Don’t touch me. You want to pick me up? I’m a black belt in karate.
There are few things I will tolerate, but DON’T get too cozy too quick, foolish hooman. Food? Well I gotta eat, don’t I??? A nice warm bed? A guy’s gotta rest!! A little peace and quiet? I need it more than anyone!!
Someone please rescue me and give me the kingdom I rightfully DESERVE and maybe, just maybe, you’ll turn me into a mushy loving chicken nugget. HA! DON’T COUNT ON IT! Now get out of my way – I think I’ll take a jog around the room. You’re STILL here?? Might as well donate to the hoomans taking care of me! Okay NOW I’m leaving.”
The post quickly went viral and it wasn’t long before the applications started coming in for the feisty kitten.
The very next day, the humane society shared a beautiful update: Spicy Chicken Nugget found her forever home!
They wrote: “Hey it’s spicy chicken nugget signing off! I’m finally getting my kingdom with my forever hooman today. I know I said I hated everything but this isn’t so bad. I kinda like her. DON’T tell anyone!”
The post accompanied a photo of the little kitten and her new forever human.
They went on to say, “I don’t know, maybe I’m going soft, but you should know there are PLENTY of other kittens here at the humane society waiting for their hoomans too. Praise me all you want. I’ll always be the boss.”
