There’s a stereotype about dogs hating the mailman. Dogs are often pictured chasing the mailman away or biting at them, while the mailman is portrayed throwing dog treats and running.
While some dogs truly do hate mailmen, that couldn’t be further from the truth for a sweet pup named Penny.
Penny’s owner, Bridget, took to TikTok to share about Penny’s relationship with their mailman and it couldn’t be any sweeter.
Apparently, Penny and the mailman go way back – 16 years to be exact!
The video was captioned: “Whoever said dogs hate mailmen.. clearly never met these two.”
In the video, Bridget explained, “My dog and mailman have been bestfriends for 16 years. She waits for him everyday, all year round. But, summer is her favorite because she gets to greet him everyday.”
It’s clear that Penny loves the mailman and the mailman loves Penny.

Bridget shared that video on on June 4, 2020 and it went viral, being viewed over 10 million times! People fell in love with Penny and her relationship with her best friend, the mailman.
Sadly, on October 21, 2020, Bridget shared a heartbreaking update: “Penny passed away this week…she lived a very long and love-filled life.”
It’s no secret that Penny was loved by a lot of people and she’ll be dearly missed.
Rest in peace, sweet Penny!
