Paragliding is an activity that many people have on their bucket lists. After seeing the following video, however, you may just want to consider parahawking instead of paragliding!
Paragliding instructor Scott Mason often takes to the skies over the Spanish Mountains for the views and rush of the experience. He doesn’t usually go alone, however.
Even when Scott is paragliding solo, he’s not totally alone. You see, he’s joined by a vulture or other bird of prey!
According to Storyful, Scott pioneered the activity called “parahawking” where a trained bird of prey, like a hawk or a vulture, joins the flight.
Speaking with Storyful, Mason explained that he “pioneered parahawking” to raise awareness for birds of prey. He said:
“My aim was to create awareness, to portray them in a more positive light and educate people about the important role they play in our ecosystem.”
In a video shared on YouTube, you can see a beautiful vulture soaring through the sky with Scott and a passenger.
The vulture perches on the camera stick for a moment before continuing its journey through the air.
It’s really something special to witness! It’s hard to imagine what it must feel like to be up in the air with the bird.
