Happy doesn’t begin to describe the feeling a shelter dog named Tilly had when she was finally adopted.
Tilly was reportedly found as a stray eating garbage and taken in last year by Walker County Animal Shelter in Georgia. Her friendly personality and adorable looks quickly won the hearts of staff members.
The 4-year-old loves outdoor adventures, gets along with cats, and is such a sweetheart, so the shelter couldn’t understand why she hadn’t found a loving home. They said, “We are stumped! This is just unheard of for a sweet girl like her!”
Her adoption fee was covered by an anonymous supporter and all she needed was a loving home. The shelter was determined to find her a home before she reached her one-year anniversary on July 1 – and they did.
After spending 324 nights in the shelter, Tilly finally found her person.
The shelter shared the good news on Facebook and wrote, “She’s been in just about every kennel we have at the shelter but today, she’s a free girl! We hope and pray for a long and healthy life with her new family! She’s such a great companion and deserves the best!”
It was clearly a perfect match as Tilly and her new mom couldn’t stop smiling. The adorable photo of Tilly with her tongue hanging out and sporting a wide grin melted the hearts of shelter supporters who have been routing for the shelter dog all along.
The shelter is thrilled that the energetic pup has a forever home, but they will miss her. “We love you Tilly and we will miss seeing your face every day but we’ve been pulling for you all along!”
The moment all shelter dogs wait for has finally occurred for Tilly, but there are dozens more at the shelter still waiting for someone to choose them. Check out all the adoptable dogs here.
