Nico, that is this mink’s name.
He, fortunately, escaped from a mink farm and was found by a Good Samaritan.
He came into Megan’s life and the two became the best buddies.
According to Megan, she strived to win Nico’s trust first by sitting and talking with him along with a toy monkey. Then, she started to pet him and Nico responded positively to her touch.
From then on, Nico would always wait for her to come home from work so they could play together. They have their own funny version of tug-of-war, with Nico doing his best to win like a real champ.
But the fondest activity for Nico is swimming in his own pool. Every morning, he would go diving and play with his toys in the water. He would bring small “treasures” he could find to his nesting ground and play some more at the pool.
In the wild, minks love being in lakes, rivers, marshes, and even shorelines. They are great swimmers like otters, except that minks cannot see underwater.
At mink farms, these animals’ natural love of water is repressed. It was a good thing that Nico was able to gnaw his way out to freedom.
To celebrate their friendship, Megan would take her mink buddy out to see more of the world. This time, they went to a river so Nico could experience the wild.
The mink loved exploring a river for the first time, from inspecting rocks and pieces of wood to wading through the shallow water. But, Nico did not want to go into the woodland. Maybe it was a world too big for him. He is already very happy with his own pool at home. And, of course, Megan’s everlasting love.
Watch Nico’s fun-filled adventures at home and in the wild!
