When you look out of your back window, you often expect to see some little critters scurrying around in the yard.
This could be snakes or perhaps even, on occasion, something like an opossum or a raccoon.
For a family in New Jersey, however, a look out of the window yielded quite a surprise.
There was a giant snapping turtle in the backyard and the woman looking out of the window called her husband, Frank, and told him about the unexpected visitor.
According to The Dodo, the snapping turtle hung out for a little bit to check out the mulch in the garden but it didn’t stay very long.
After it rained the next day, however, Frank went outside to see what had actually happened and he saw some little white balls that look like ping-pong balls.
It seemed as if the snapping turtle, whom they named Snippy, had left some eggs behind. Because of the rain, the eggs got damaged but the family decided to gather them up and rescue them. They then had to wait three weeks, but the wait was well worth it!
Not only did Frank and his wife enjoy watching the eggs hatching, but their children also had quite an experience from it as well. They even name to the hatchlings, Charlie, snappy, Sunshine, and Lil’ Baggins.
After watching them grow and caring for them while they were young, the turtles were eventually released into a nearby lake where they could live out their life as turtles should live.
