An African flamingo flew away shortly after arriving at the Sedgwick County Zoo in 2005 and has been living its best life ever since.

The beautiful bird has been spotted on the Texas coast recently, but this isn’t the first time. The bird called No. 492, the number on the identification band on its leg, has been spotted by locals and park officials for several years in the Lone Star State.

The flamingo is now known as “Pink Floyd” and considered a local celebrity.

Spotting the pink bird is a special treat and one that people are quick to share online.

Coastal Fisheries Division of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department shared a recent spotting of the beloved flamingo.

“Looks like Pink Floyd has returned from the ‘dark side the of moon’! Spotted at Rhodes Point in Cox Bay near Port Lavaca by David Foreman on March 10,” they wrote.

The gorgeous bird is seen strutting along the sandbar in the video taken by Foreman.

No one is certain if the bird is a male or female because it left before being examined. It escaped on a windy, stormy night and is roughly 27 years old, according to The Wichita Eagle.

Pink Floyd will hopefully remain in the area for many years to come as there is no plan to recapture the bird.

Someone asked in the comments if the zoo plans on trying to capture the flamingo and the Texas Park and Wildlife department said, “No at this point it’s not feasible to capture it in Texas and return it to Kansas. Especially since it seems to be thriving!”
