Some animals are abandoned for the strangest and most selfish reasons. Take Fezco, for example.
Earlier this month, Fezco was dumped at the shelter for being gay. The dog’s owners claimed he had been humping another male dog, so he must be gay.
Despite Fezco’s behavior being completely normal and healthy as per the ASPCA, his owners said they didn’t want him anymore and abandoned him.
The poor pooch was left at the Stanly County Animal Protective Services in Albemarle, North Carolina. When they shared Fezco’s story on Facebook, it quickly went viral. People couldn’t understand why someone would abandon a dog for such a ridiculous reason.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long before animal protective services shared an update with great news: Fezco has been adopted!
They wrote on Facebook: “We would like to give a special thank you to Greater Charlotte SPCA for taking Fezco into their rescue! Thankfully, they had a previous adopter step up, and Fezco has been ADOPTED!!! Thank you GCSPCA for making this possible!”

According to WCCB Charlotte, Fezco was adopted by Steve Nichols and his partner John.
They’d both been the subjects of gay discrimination in the past so they empathized with what poor Fezco was going through. Speaking with WCCB Charlotte, Steve said: “We’ve been subject to that kind of bigotry and ignorance throughout our lives together, and we couldn’t always do anything about it. We looked at each other and said, we can do something about this.”
He added that both he and John felt like it would “make sense” for the “gay dog” to be adopted by a “loving gay family.”
While the behavior that Fezco demonstrated in humping another male dog is normal and not indicative of sexual orientation, the sentiment is sweet.
Fezco has been renamed Oscar after the famous gay poet, Oscar Wilde. We’re excited to know he was placed in such a perfect home so quickly after being dumped! He’ll never have to experience that kind of pain and abandonment he went through again.
