When 17 (yes, SEVENTEEN) national animal welfare organizations from around the country come together for one single challenge, you know it’s an important one! That’s the case with the We Foster Challenge, a challenge that is all about being inclusive and utilizing foster care to help keep more people and pets together. Because by fostering pets, we also foster community, foster inclusivity and foster love.
This exciting Challenge is funded by Michelson Found Animals Foundation, Maddie’s Fund® and Cuddly in collaboration with Adopt-A-Pet.com, Adoptimize, American Pets Alive!, ASPCA, The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement, Best Friends Animal Society, Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity (CARE), Community Cats Podcast, Greater Good Charities, HeARTS Speak, Humane Society of the United States, National Animal Care and Control Association, Petco Love, and PetSmart Charities.
All organizations have joined forces to share their most helpful resources, expert speakers for Huddles and more. You can find all the details and important dates on the Challenge webpage. One important date you don’t want to miss is Monday, February 28th, when the application window opens! It’s only open for a week, so mark your calendar. The Challenge itself will take place in May, giving you all of April to prep!
We can’t wait to see how you embrace foster programs that are inclusive and diverse, put people front and center, and help pets from ever having to enter the shelter at all. Whether it’s a temporary foster care program for hospitalized patients, translating your fostering materials into another language or simply recruiting more foster caregivers, we can help foster programs to grow and thrive this spring.
