10-year-old Jeremiah and his dad, Dave Carter, were stuck in lockdown with the rest of the world. They wanted to stay busy and find ways to entertain themselves, so they decided to take on a new craft every week.
One week, Jeremiah heard of someone creating a “stick library” in New Zealand. The concept was simple enough: Create a library full of sticks for dogs at the local park. It was the perfect project to take on!
The Carter men got to work at their Saskatoon, Canada park. They built the wood library from scratch, and even labeled it, “STICK LIBRARY AVALON BRANCH”. Finally, they filled it with sticks and zip-tied it to a fence at their local park.
When they returned to check on the library, they were excited to see that the sticks had been used!
According to CNN, Dave said, “We took it and zip tied it to the fence so it wouldn’t disappear, we gathered sticks that we figured dogs would enjoy, and filled it up and waited to see what happened. When we would go to the dog park, there would be no sticks in there, or lots of sticks lying around.”

It seems a lot of people appreciate the work they put into the library. Several people commented on their Facebook post saying how much they love the little library.
Dave added to CNN that the project has given Jeremiah “some enjoyment and a bit of purpose.”
Since opening their first stick library, the duo has moved on to making a second one. They announced the second library on their Facebook, saying that sticks would be restocked every week.
